Meet Donna

Hi, I’m Donna, and I’ve loved playing the piano ever since I began lessons when I was 9 years old.  When I started teaching, I discovered I love connecting with students and sharing the joy of music just as much as I love playing the piano  (maybe even more!)

I have been teaching for over 20 years, in schools and also from my home studio.  I have worked with students of all ages, and enjoy working with neurodivergent students.

I’ve been told that my hair colour matches my teaching style – they’re both super fun!  I’m passionate about providing piano lessons that are fun and engaging - why would you want to do it otherwise?  I love building a connection with each student, discovering their interests, musical tastes and learning styles, and developing a lesson planned just for them.

I am a TopMusic-certified teacher, hold a Diploma in Instrumental Teaching (ABRSM), and am a fully accredited member of the Victorian Music Teachers’ Association (VMTA). I undertake professional development whenever possible, attending workshops and conferences both in person and online. I am currently a member of several online professional development communities for music teachers, including TopMusic Co, The Curious Piano Teachers, and Vibrant Music Teaching.

Outside of the studio, I live with my husband, three teenage children, Bentley the schnoodle (schnauzer x poodle), and our three cats – Tigger, Darcy and Sparky.  I love reading, cooking, spending time with family … and colouring my hair!
