Fees & Policies
2025 Tuition Fees
There is an annual registration fee of $80, payable at registration. This fee holds your place in the schedule and contributes towards the cost of materials and resources throughout the year, including the student binder and access to student apps.
Tuition fees are spread equally over the year and can be paid either monthly or by the term. This ensures your tuition fee remains consistent, regardless of the number of lessons in each month or term. Weekly students are allocated 32 lessons per year.
Tuition fees guarantee the student’s place in the studio, and cover the cost of lessons, studio events and all required materials, including books and access to apps and subscriptions for both home and in-lesson use. Optional events such as exams will be paid for by the student/parent.
Pay by the Term (4 equal instalments per year):
The term payment amount is divided evenly between the 4 school terms, and charged each term in advance
The fee remains the same whether there are 7 or 10 lessons scheduled in the term
Payment for each term is due before the end of the previous term, (or approximately 2 weeks ahead of the start of Term 1)
Invoices are sent approximately 2 weeks before the due date.
Term payments include a 5% discount, which is already applied to the rates below
Full payment is required by the due date to be eligible for the discounted term rate
Pay by the Month (11 equal instalments per year):
The monthly payment amount is divided evenly between the 11 months from January to November
The fee remains the same whether there are 2 or 5 lessons scheduled in the month
Payments are due on the 15th of each month
Monthly payments require automatic payments set up through My Music Staff

A late fee of $30 will be charged if payment is not received within 7 days of the due date.
Payment plans may be arranged in special circumstances for monthly payments only, with a $30 admin fee to cover the time and costs involved in setting up the plan. Payment plans are not available for term payments, but families can switch to monthly payments if needed.
No refunds, discounts, or make-ups are given unless the studio is unable to teach the number of lessons allocated throughout the year.
Schedule
Lessons are scheduled at a mutually agreed-upon time when a student begins lessons and for the beginning of each school year. If a student or parent wishes to change their lesson time mid-year, this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis; however, this is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
The studio is open during Victorian school terms (40 weeks per year). The studio guarantees to be present to teach 32 lessons during the school year, and this is what tuition fees are calculated on. This means that there are 8 ‘flex’ weeks, for the studio to use for public holidays, studio breaks, or teacher illness or emergencies, without affecting the number of guaranteed lessons.
There are no lessons on weekends, school holidays, public holidays or long weekends, unless otherwise arranged.
The studio guarantees 32 lessons across the school year, with up to 8 'flex weeks' to cover any public holidays, teacher illness, or emergencies. If fewer than 32 lessons are delivered, the missed lesson will either be rescheduled or credited on the next invoice.
Arriving For Your Lesson
Please ensure students are dropped off and picked up on time. Students should come to the studio door at their scheduled lesson time and wait quietly until the teacher calls them in. If you arrive early, please wait in your car until your lesson time to avoid disrupting lessons in progress. Please do not knock on the door.
All students are required to wash their hands in the bathroom as they enter the studio.
Street parking is available. Please do not park in or across the driveway, (even if only dropping off or picking up) as others need access to the driveway.
If you are dropping off a student, please wait until they have entered the studio before driving away.
Students who arrive late will receive the remainder of the lesson, but the lesson will not be extended past the scheduled finish time.
Food, drink, and gum are not permitted in the studio. Water bottles may be brought to lessons but must be kept away from the pianos and all other equipment.
Unattended Lessons
Tuition fees are based on enrolment, not attendance, reserving the student’s exclusive lesson time throughout the year, whether they attend lessons or not. As the student’s lesson time is reserved for them each week, the studio is unable to use this time to teach another student. No refunds or make-up lessons will be provided for student absences.
If a student is unable to attend their lesson, the following options are available:
Online Lesson: A Zoom lesson at the student’s regular lesson time (if well enough to participate)
Video Lesson: Receive a video lesson with updated lesson notes. Students are also invited to upload a video of assigned work to Practice Space to receive feedback from the teacher
Teacher Absences: The studio has planned for illness and emergencies by scheduling additional lessons throughout the year. Tuition fees include 32 lessons over the school year, which are spread across the 40 weeks of the Victorian school terms. If the teacher is unable to provide the guaranteed number of lessons, the lesson will be rescheduled or a credit given on the next invoice. Lessons cancelled without affecting the total number of allocated lessons for the year will not be rescheduled, credited or refunded as they have not been paid for.
Illness
Please do not attend in person lessons if you are unwell. Students who have been kept home from school, or sent home from school early should not come to piano lessons. If a student needs to miss a lesson due to illness, available options are listed above.
The studio reserves the right to send the student home if they appear to be unwell. In this case, the student will forfeit their lesson. No rescheduling, credit, refund or video lesson will be available.
If the teacher is sick (contagious) but well enough to teach, all lessons will be conducted online.
Online Lessons
Online lessons are subject to the same attendance and payment policies as in-person lessons. To ensure a successful online learning experience, students will receive guidelines outlining the ideal setup for online lessons. To make the most of our lesson time, students should ensure they are prepared and set up before their scheduled lesson time.
If internet issues arise during an online lesson, and continuing with the lesson is not possible, the lesson will be completed by telephone, or by video exchange.
Discontinuing Lessons
FFor students wishing to discontinue lessons, please provide 2 weeks’ written notice prior to the end of the current term. Students will continue to receive the lessons they’ve paid for until the end of their current billing cycle, or they may choose to forfeit any unused lessons.
Please note that tuition fees are spread equally across the year to cover a total of 32 lessons. Students will not receive credits, refunds, or rescheduled lessons if they choose to withdraw before the year is complete.
The teacher reserves the right to discontinue lessons for any reason. This may include unpaid fees, failure to follow studio policies, frequent absences, behavioural issues, lack of practice, and destruction or damage of studio property.
Practice Expectations
All students are required to have access to an instrument at home to maintain consistent progress in their musical journey. Students are expected to commit to a regular practice routine, and should aim to practice 5 days each week.
The studio uses the Practice Space app to communicate practice expectations and assignments. All students are required to set up a Practice Space account and to check this regularly.
Communication
Parents/adult students are required to check text messages and emails regularly to avoid missing important studio communication.
Email or text is the best and preferred way to reach us. If you need to cancel a lesson at the last minute, please text, as email and voicemail are not checked during teaching hours. Studio email is checked several times a day. Calls are sent to voicemail during lessons.
The studio is closed on weekends and public holidays. Any emails or messages received during this time will be addressed on the next business day.
Studio Licensing & Copyright
The studio offers an extensive library of studio-licensed materials, including sheet music, games, and various resources—all available exclusively to our currently enrolled students. We also provide legally purchased copies of sheet music, along with videos and other educational tools created by the studio.
All resources, whether studio-licensed or studio-created, such as printed music, music games, videos, PDFs, audio recordings, access to apps, and website links, are intended solely for the use of our currently enrolled students. Sharing these materials with individuals outside our studio violates copyright law and breaches our licensing agreements with composers and creators.
To maintain compliance with copyright regulations, the studio does not accept or distribute photocopies of copyrighted music. We require all students to use legally obtained copies of music during their lessons.
